This story slipped under the radar from early August, and alas, the video link seems defunct (Ed. it worked for me). From August 2nd, the Australia Network News reported AFL dream for Nauru footy players[*1] .
The rebuilding of footy in Nauru via the formation of AFL Nauru, the revamped league with a draft and the preparations for sending a junior side to the Oceania junior championships late 2009 were reported on WFN[*2] .
Sports Minister Mathew Batsiua says for many of the players, that is the dream.
"You can imagine if a Nauruan can make it to the AFL, he'll be a legend," he said.
