Aussie X[*1] is a sporting program that takes footy, cricket and netball to Canadian schoolchildren.  This week they appeared on the Canadian TV show Dragon’s Den[*2] .   The program hosts businesses and entrepreneurs to appeal to a panel of venture capitalists to invest in their business or idea for a cut of the business.

Aussie X was chasing $150,000 to grow their business and expand their program (including potentially into America next year) in exchange for a 20% stake in their business. After a pitch and demonstration that went down well with the investors they were knocked back a number of times before Jim Treliving[*3] , Chairman of Boston Pizza responds to the call of “make us an offer mate”. He then offers $150,000 for 50% of the Aussie X business which after a short deliberation is accepted by the pitch team.

Youtube footage of the program can be seen below.
