One thing we always hoped that our site would be valued for in time, was as a documented history of modern International Footy. The site started in 2004 and we have had thousands of stories since then. So what was happening 10 years ago this week at World Footy News? Jake Anson told us the AFL Club Melbourne would be hosting NZ at IC05[*1] , and the IC05 venues were announced[*2] at Port Melbourne, Wangaratta, Optus Oval and the MCG.
PNG won the U16 Qld Country Championships[*3] and Malcolm Blight was reported to have put up is hand to coach PNG in the IC05 Grand Final[*4] should they make it (they did make it and lost to NZ, as far as I recall Blight was not coaching).
Japan were headed to the Arafura games[*5] in their warmup for IC05 (they went on to finish 9th at IC05 under coach Troy Beard).
We looked at the Farum Cats growth and Peter Parry told us about International Rules football in Copenhagen[*6] .
Stateside there were TV deals[*7] , a MAAFL preview[*8] from Wayne Kraska, the OC Bombers took out the Wild West Shootout[*9] and Kathryn Hogg took on the USAFL Women’s portfolio[*10] .
