Yep, it's the main issue I knew we'd have with these snapshots. The problem is having the resources (i.e. volunteer staff hours) to do a proper updated census. The only other alternative is to use AFL figures, which we may explore doing, but it would be preferable to use our own methods so we can ensure the criteria etc are consistent, e.g. the AFL have used varying definitions on what constitutes a player, is it being registered but playing only 1 game, is it 1 lesson of Auskick, is it 4 lessons or 4 games?

Unfortunately getting the snapshots done has taken a long time in amongst keeping up with regular stories, so it's hard to see a census soon. But your point is well taken. Some countries will have grown by small amounts, some by a lot. Maybe we'll find time later this year.
