While it is great that footy is being spread to yet another country, I find it a bit galling that so much money is being thrown at this team from a country that has very little to show in terms of longer term development.

I recently visited Israel and anything to promote peace is vitally required, but I don't see why so many corporate sponsors, plus two Victorian state agencies are required. Richard Pratt is a wealthy man, and could surely come up with the 100 grand required.

Why can't Diadora, Deloitee or NAB be encouraged to sponsor the competition or international footy as a whole? And make it easier for established leagues to send teams, therefore encouraging longer term participation?

Would certainly be nice to see some of the other countries getting more support. A naming rights sponsor to take on the Cup would've been good.

I don't think they're having money thrown at them per se, more that the people
in charge of the Peres Centre and the peace team are well-connected and know
what they're doing.

You can't really have a go at them for being good at attracting sponsors.
