Once again great summary Brett.

Great to see the Samurai's get up over Samoa, and Nauru over Great Britain in round 2.

Moving on from the occasional negative comment about the lopsided score lines, it looks to me at a distance from Sydney that the whole level of competition is greatly improved from 2005 and the internationalisation of our wonderful game is making great strides.

For the teams who haven't troubled the scorer's sheet yet round 3 is the chance to get on the board and feel the thrill of a goal or two.

I totally agree with you that there should be a "spirit of the game" award (both team and player), after all the AFL's premier individual honour is not called "The Best AND Fairest" for nothing. Obviously the Peace Team would be rightful favourites for the Team category but the Samoans sound as if they are taking a wonderful approach to the whole experience and ought to be congratulated on the spirit they are playing in and the spiritual manner in which they are banding together.

In round 3 with Ireland v Canada and USA v South Africa shaping up as Cup winner defining matches and some more even match ups in the other games, I think we are seeing a fantastic competition that is taking the game to new heights and I for one am glad that ALL of teams are in together despite a few floggings. We should be honouring the sacrifices and commitment that all of the players have made to simply put on a jersey and run out in Melbourne wearing their national teams colours; as well as the coaches, support staff and supporters regardless of whether they have come from Richmond on the tram or Helsinki on a jumbo.

Hope and trust all the players had a great time at the Hawthorn v Carlton match with 50,000 screaming fans and I can see a day when real crowds will be evident for the whole International Cup. I am sure it would be a very smart move for us Australians to get behind this tournament and congratulate ALL involved and start appreciating that Aussie Rules can Rock the world!

By the looks of the AFL Finals fixture. IC Grand Final will be a Friday Evening curtain raiser.
