It would appear a combined Oceania team may be brought into those competitions in the next few years anyway, and with no need for a third tier - they may well be around the mark in division 2 anyway. The game really is developing fast in some areas now - not just talk of potential but genuine junior development in good numbers.

That's excellent to hear.

I guess, on 'Oceania', in the old world order according to FIFA, Australia and NZ were part of soccer-Oceania. Would we be assuming that an Oceania team in the Nat Champs would be combined NZ, PNG, plus Samoa, Fiji, Nauru, Tonga, New Caledonia?? i.e. would it be inclusive of A. NZ and B. PNG?, or are those programs best kept seperate for now?

If all inclusive - it would be great to see similar approach to 'continental' challenges - i.e. a Euro team vs a Nth America team vs an Oceania vs an Asia vs an Africa. More just to let the best of the developing nations play with the best available in each continent and to really forge stronger bonds. (with an eye to the future, i.e. that these kids become the coaches and club presidents and 'auskick' variants of tomorrow - and co-ordinate within a continental perspective).

Regarding who'd be part of "Oceania", I assume it's the leagues/countries being brought together by Cadzow - in which case PNG's definitely part of it, but don't know about NZ.

Although going by Rod's story on the NZ under age championships, I think they're in there too.

Realistically, that makes it PNG, NZ, Samoa, Tonga and Nauru at this point, plus Fiji if they can get something off the ground domestically, plus possibly New Caledonia and/or the Solomons if they can get something happening.

Yes, NZ, PNG, all of Oceania except Australia would be eligible I would expect. See our earlier story NZAFL getting ready to play their part in Oceania Football Competition for more info.
