That's ruddy brilliant, I'm just sad that after he trained at North Melbourne, that they weren't willing to get him on an International listing - but, then, we did rookie list Majak Daw so that's something.

At any rate - it's ruddy brilliant. It's got to add impetus to the South African development squads and the 'World Team' when they turn up for the Nationals later this year.

ah, and just noticed, that Simon Crean got in on the announcement over in SAf.

Cool - let's see him get K.Rudd to sign over a modest blank cheque to help fund that little bit of Australia that is growing in various nations around the world.

The Simon Crean and Federal Government connection would be that "the AFL and Federal government subsidise the wage and other employer costs" of these kinds of positions, according to the AFL SportsReady website.

Definitely very good news. No doubt being called a Sheedy gimmick by knockers of international footy. It must be getting harder and harder to knock though.

What does it say about the Australian media's view on international footy that besides the ABC, the only mention today (at least as far as google news tells me) was in a paper from Rugby League territory?

Surely this is of some interest to the sporting public in the traditional Aussie rules states?

The Age (Realfooty) had 2 runs of the story timed 2:50pm and 2:59 pm....ah, I see that got mentioned on the subsequent story about this....ah well,

also, SEN spoke to Sheeds tonight - as he was passing through Lane Cove on the way back from Riverview College.
