There is no change in World Rankings following 49th Parallel Cup International Test between USA and Canada.

USA's home team advantage pushed the initial rating gap to 11.04 points this being above the 10.00 limit that would bring about an points exchange. No advantage is gained by the higher ranked team winning nor any loss incurred by the lower ranked team in losing.

By the way, if all the results of the IC11 Women's matches and the Northern Lights v Freedom Cup match are used in a World Ranking for women it would look like this.

1. Australia

2. Ireland 49.67rating points

3. United States 43.20

4. Canada 40.94

5. Papua New Guinea 34.65

6. Australian Indigenous & Multicultural 34.54

However, there have been a number of previous Tests between The Northern Lights and Freedom prior to IC11 that should be included if we want an accurate Womens World Ranking Scheme. I believe that Canada was the more successful in those matches and if this was the case then the points gap between USA and Canada would much closer or even Canada slightly higher than USA.

Take home matches from both Canada and USA into account when looking for any trend with the 49th Parallel results. The reality is that it's still very tough to put the best national teams on the park each time the series is played. Some players need to order passports, many can't afford to attend or can't arrange time off work (North Americans typically get two weeks' holiday that must be taken at certain times of the year). I'd say from the weekend's results that the Canadian women are about par with the USA. They beat them at both IC2011 and the 2010 49th Parallel (twice).

Canada played very well against the USA but didn't come close to the Irish at IC11. The Freedom only just lost to Canada but put up a serious fight against Ireland. My thoughts are Canada has the knack for challenging the USA but the Freedom has a slight edge when it comes to world rankings.
