Hi Michael,
No problems. AFL is indeed the number one sport played in Nauru, which takes a lot of people by surprise given that we don't have proper playing surfaces in Nauru but also our physique of being short and stocky is probably more appropriate for rugby league or even rugby sevens. Be that as it may, we do love our Aussie Rules footy and we are proud of our new revamped competition which we started back in 2009 following a long pause due to problems with violence in the sport. Now the competition is much cleaner, better organised, with a dedicated Executive Committee and keen players who love the sport and love the rewards that comes with it i.e. representing Nauru at International Cup and the Test Matches which are ongoing now against Fiji. We are well supported by our corporate sponsors in Nauru, but would love to see assistance from AFL especially to develop our coaching and umpiring staff. My email is mbatsiua@gmail.com for anyone wishing to seek more info from us and our comp in Nauru. With regards to this Test series against Fiji we hope that it will be the first of many. We also hope to build our first grass sports oval soon and take turn to host the series. When that happens, I will be in footy heaven.
