Another good story on the international players attending the AFL-AIS Camp appeared on The Age's Realfooty on December 7th. It profiles the players and speaks with AFL national talent manager Kevin Sheehan.
Titled A whole world of possibilities, the article focussed on New Zealand's Alex Fakatoumafi. Of Tongan descent, Alex is typical of players with a Polynesian background that the NZAFL believes will soon provide the AFL with drafts.
The story is by Emma Quayle and includes a chat with Kevin Sheehan, the AFL's national talent manager, who discusses previous players who have made the AFL such as Jim Stynes. But Kevin emphasises that "the difference with these seven boys is that they've found a passion for the game and learnt all the aspects of it in other countries. We'll continue to explore it. You can't put a time frame on it, but you just don't know". WFN spoke with Kevin at the 2005 International Cup and noted his enthusiasm then and it seems he is becoming a great proponent of supporting international footy.
