In what is believed to be a first for Aussie Rules football in the US a British team, the Reading Kangaroos, are to play the Atlanta Kookaburras in Atlanta on April 9th 2005 for the Atlanta International Footy Challenge Cup. After many weeks of planning the Reading UK team who play in the British Australian Rules Football League (BARFL) are set to land in Atlanta for four days bringing with them a whole new era of Aussie Rules footy to the south and to the US.

The Reading Kangaroos were only established in November 2002 but have grow quickly to become a very progressive and succesful club in the BARFL.

The Atlanta Kookaburras established in 1998 were recent hosts of the Pratt Industires 2004 USAFL National Championships and continue to look to expand their horizons. Last year they were possibly one of the only teams in the world playing two entirely seperate leagues at the same time the MAAFL where ther finished third and the SEAFL where they won their fourth Premiership game in as many years.
