North America It looks likely that a deal will be done soon to get the 2005 AFL season back on North American TV screens. FOX appeared to have dropped it altogether, but negotiations are said to be nearing completion that will give the coverage a stay of execution. The following report is courtesy of AFANA.

Coverage on FSC and FSWC

AFANA was able to learn today that a deal is nearly finalized to restore limited coverage to FOX Soccer Channel, FOX Sports World Canada, and MHz Networks. The AFL cannot as yet confirm this however AFANA was told that a deal was close. Since Canada is confident of coverage, we are reasonably confident of US coverage, too. We did get a confirming reply from FOX Sports World Canada and from FOX Sports International.

Our thanks to all the fans who supported our efforts and showed great patience during the past six weeks. We were surprised that FOX Soccer Channel has chosen to come back on board and the reasons behind the reversal will be covered in a future report in our Media newsletter.
