The Wellington Saints have defeated the Eastern Suburbs Bulldogs for the Wellington AFL 2004-05 premiership in a hard-fought match at Sladden Park, Pentone.

The game, held in sunny but windy conditions, was played on Sunday the 20th of February and saw a tight struggle with neither side able to assert dominance for extended periods and goals into the wind very hard to come by.

The Saints started with the wind and went into the first break with a 14-point advantage. They were then outplayed by the Bulldogs in the second quarter, scores level at the half-time break.

Again, the Saints pulled away with the wind in the third quarter, but had to hold out a fast-finishing Bulldogs side in the last, the Saints' backline succesfully thwarting the Dogs' comeback.

The final score showed a 14 point win to the Saints, capping off an undeated season (the first of any club) in the Wellington AFL.
