International Cup 2005 As the 2nd International Cup draws closer, the AFL South Africa are trying to raise funds to get their national side to the tournament in Melbourne. Several legends of the game have come together to promote the cause, and the Victorian public can get involved through a dinner to be held next week.

The function is on in Melbourne at the William Angliss TAFE, on Wednesday 16th March. It is being hosted by the AFL, Tattersalls and William Angliss, and will feature some of the biggest names in Aussie Rules. These men also share a passion for spreading the game internationally, and are featured in a painting that will be auctioned at the dinner: Kevin Sheedy, Ron Barassi, Grant Thomas and current AFL South Africa Chair Brian Dixon. The unique painting by Michael Britter imagines an Australian Rules Football Test Match between Australia and South Africa at the MCG, with the above men looking down on the game.

Rather than just reading about it online, this is a great chance to share the dream. Tickets can be purchased from Ed Biggs on (03) 9643 1944 (within Australia). More details on the AFL website story.
