International Cup 2005

In another step up in the increasingly professional approach of countries to the 2005 International Cup, the AFL Canada have appointed a former AFL coach to their coaching staff.

The Northwind will benefit from the expertise of former Brisbane coach (1990), Paul Feltham. He was with the club back in the less than successful Cararra Oval days, but he wasn't alone in struggling to lift the Bears, as they were then known, before their merger with Fitzroy and move to Brisbane proper. Feltham takes on the role of Consultant and Sports Psychologist. He played in the 1975 North Melbourne premiership team during a 145 VFL/AFL game career. With Canada expected to be amongst the top few sides, every edge could be vital.

In other Canadian Australian Rules news, Mike McFarlane, formerly with the Vancouver Cougars and a Canadian with strong Aussie ties, has been appointed AFL Canada President for 2005.
