April 9th saw the finals of the ARFLI Super 10’s Competition being played with the usual suspects of Lions, Eagles, Demons and Crows competing in the finals.

The semi finals saw the coming together of the first and second ranked teams from the newly developed conference system. The match-up’s appeared to be a city versus country, Dublin versus Munster showdown. Northern Conference Number 1 ranked Dublin Eagles took on the Clare Crows in the first semi and Dublin Demons played Number 1 ranked Leeside Lions from the Southern Conference.

The day was set out with the South Dublin Eagles taking on the Clare Crows in the first semi final. In a closely contested match, last years premiers eventually prevailed to an improving Crows outfit 8-11-59 to 5-5-35.

In the 2nd semi-final the Leeside Lions slugged it out against the Dublin Demons. The scores were level going into the half time break but a fresh, fit looking Lions outfit ran away with the game in the second half securing their spot in the final.

The Leeside Lions and Dublin Eagles went into the finals as champions of their respective conferences and a hotly contested battle was expected. The first half did not disappoint with neither side willing to give nor concede an inch. Only one kick separated the two sides at the half. As in the their semi final, the Leeside jumped out of the blocks in the second half and produced some brilliant passages of play, their supreme fitness and years of experience playing together showed through and the Lions ran out deserved winners 7-6-48 to 3-2-20.

After the Finals presentation the National Management named the Squad of 26 players plus 4 emergency players for this year's International Cup. Read more about this on the ARFLI site.
