The USAFL have announced that AFL club Essendon will host their national squad during the International Cup. Canada have previously reached agreement with the Sydney Swans and New Zealand with the Melbourne Demons.
USAFL President Mark Wheeler announced that "While the specific arrangements of accommodation and travel are well under way, the Essendon Football Club may be able to assist us with:
· General hospitality and local area information
· Availability of venues for training
· Attendance at club training sessions and welcome by coach and players
· Access to rehabilitation facilities/trainers/physios for injured players
In due course, information about the travel arrangement will be announced to those wishing to travel with the team. We are looking into developing a 'Supporters Package', where we buy bulk airline and hotel numbers and thus the price per head should become cheaper than it would be for individuals buying for themselves. Those interested in flying with the team please contact president@usfooty.com for further information."
Check out the Revolution's website for more information in coming weeks (note that at time of writing the 2005 squad has not yet been listed).
