Initial plans for the United States Western Regionals round 2 to be staged by Seattle and Vancouver in Vancouver (Canada) have been cancelled. It appeared that two clubs had pulled out and several others were not keen. Combined with Seattle not fielding a team in the first round in Denver, and the scheduling close to the Revolution departure for the International Cup, and the decision was made to look closer to home for most of the clubs.
The Californian club the Orange County Bombers volunteered for the role, and it will now be held in OC on the weekend of September 10/11, with further details to be released later.
Chris McNeil from OC, pointed out that as a Western Regionals round it just wouldn't have worked this year, but on the Vancouver plans said "It still would have been a great tournament, and I believe Vancouver are planning something bigger and better for next year". Regarding OC staging the West's second round, "the date of September 10/11 means the Revo's will be back, and it will be 3 weeks before Nationals so we'll all benefit from such a strong competition at that stage of the season".
