Aussie Rules is coming to Bermuda, and the Atlanta Kookaburras, Reading Kangaroos (UK) and Bermuda Department of Tourism will use the the USAFL National conference on Friday and the USAFL National Championships on Saturday to launch The Bermuda Australian Rules Football Championships to be held April 2007. |
With teams from the USA, Canada and Europe participating the Championships will truly have an international flavor. Not only will this be a great event for Bermuda but participating teams will be able to enjoy a fantastic location, a modern stadium with state of the art lighting and play footy all at the same time all amongst the pink sandy beaches of Bermuda.
The venue will be the brand new Bermuda Sports Stadium, the prime location for other sporting events like the World Rugby Classic and the World 20/20 Cricket Trophy. With state of the art lighting, turf management and excellent facitlities it will make this event a superb place to play Australian Rules Football for players and spectators alike.
Bermuda lies in the North Atlantic, is less than a two hour flight from NY and Philidelphia and around 2 hours from Atlanta, Charlotte, Miami and Boston - not in the Carribean as a lot of people think! With international airlines traveling there from Toronto, London and these US locations travel is very easy.
National Teams will also be invited to attend and in 2008 the event might take on a pre-International Cup feel.
