Ben Graham, punter for the New York Jets and former long-kicking defender for the AFL's Geelong Cats, has been confirmed as an attendee of the New York Magpies' Longest Kick competition, an annual Australia Day social event and fundraiser for the Aussie Rules community in the Big Apple.

Ben Graham moved from Geelong to New Jersey for the 2005 season to take up the position as the team’s punter. After an outstanding rookie season with the Jets, and recently signing a contract extension with that team, he looks set to be with them for many years to come. Many Geelong fans and members of the club’s administration felt disappointed that he cut his career short. Overall it was a loss to Aussie rules. But it seems he has not forgotten grass roots footy, on this occasion it just happens to be grass roots footy in New York.

The New York Magpies President Doug Lewis today confirmed that Graham has agreed to be a part of a longest kick competition in Manhattan on Australia Day, January 26th.The competition will see prizes awarded, with details of time, location, media coverage etc to be later be announced on the Magpies' website and will be updated here at World Footy News.
