The Louisville Kings Footy Club website appears to be breaking the news (although rumours have strongly suggested it would be the case) that the 2007 Nationals will be held in Louisville, Kentucky (note that their website has since gone down). This will be the 11th staging of the event, in the 10th year of the USAFL. It will no doubt be promoted as a celebration of that milestone with a return to the original location of the first game of footy played in the US between Louisville and Cincinnati back in 1996.
Hosting the Nationals will be a big challenge for the team in Louisville who have had limited appearances over the past few years. They also have announced on their site that they will be hosting the 2nd annual Founder’s Thunder Cup on April 21st this year. Last year’s Founder’s Thunder Cup was a success, and this year’s will be a mild warm up for the full on assault of teams from across the US, and probably some Canadian clubs as per the past two years. We will have more details as they are released by US Footy. The preview of the 2006 Founder's Thunder Cup can be viewed here.
