USFootyNews.com is counting down the 2010 Preseason Top 10. We start with Number 10 Milwaukee Bombers, division 2 finalists from the 2009 US Nationals.
Thanks to Doren James for this report.
The Milwaukee Bombers are highly motivated to build upon their success at the 2009 National Championships where they came up 3 goals short against a talented Calgary side in the Division 2 Grand Final. The Bombers will once again be led by veteran rover and newly appointed President, Ross Siegel. Encouraged by the Bombers strong showing at Nationals, Siegel is optimistic about the coming season, "We finished 2009 in great fashion and really hope to use that momentum for a strong 2010 season."
Sharing the workload in the middle of the ground with Siegel will be veteran Revolution rover and US Footy News All-Star, Dan Sarbacker. Backing them in the half back line will be Patrick Defoers whose strong leg and experience playing in Western Australia will make him a valuable leader and a key to setting up the Bombers attack going forward. Last year's rookie of the year, Jamie Kmiecik will join Defoers across half back as he looks to build upon his impressive 2009 campaign. Veteran defensive leaders Kurt Landers and Heath Moore along with the hard hitting Cory Malchow will provide solid defense in the back line.
World XVIII candidate Chris Franzen will utilize his creativity and speed to set up opportunities across the half forward line. Taking over coaching duties will be Melbourne native and Bomber veteran Paul O'Connor who is looking to maximize the Bombers speed and athleticism through the middle to establish an aggressive, opportunistic brand of footy.
The 2010 Bombers campaign will kick off in Minnesota on June 12 in what will be the first of three matches between the two clubs this season. They will then host long time rivals, Chicago United in Milwaukee on June 26 in a clash that is sure to set the tone for the rest of the season. The Bombers will also host the Toronto Blues, who have always proven to be a quality side and will give the Bombers a good feel for the level of competition they can expect from the Canadian clubs at this year's Nationals. Newcomers Columbus/Ohio Valley and the Des Moines Roosters from Iowa will also travel to Milwaukee in the lead up to this year's championships.
