On any given weekend during an American footy season there can be any number of games happening across the US. With teams playing a number of one off tournaments and some smaller league structures, and metro leagues slotted in here and there the number can vary from one or two and on other weekends in the double figures.
This weekend is one of the latter. In Boston the OAFL Awfuls will be playing games against both Boston Demons and Baltimore/Washington Eagles. The Eagles and Demons will also play each other in their scheduled EAFL clash.
Baton Rouge Tigers will host Houston Lonestars in Louisiana while Dallas Magpies, Nashville Kangaroos and New York Magpies will head to Austin Crows to take part in the four team tournament there. Columbus Jackaroos will be host the MAAFL 2009 Champions, Chicago United. A three way tournament will also be held in Des Moines with the Roosters taking on the Minnesota Freeze and Milwaukee Bombers.
Out west Seattle Grizzlies will play Portland Power in Chehalis and Arizona Hawks will host the San Diego Lions. In Concord the GGAFL continues with Marin Mavericks against the Oakland Pirates and San Jose Hornets taking on the San Francisco Knights.
The SCAFL will be holding their Grand Final with Beachside Sharks playing OC Jets, with the LA Swans and the Riverside Football Club playing the curtain raiser for third place.
In Atlanta they are also holding the Grand Final of the AARFL with Roswell Rebels taking on the Midtown Bombers. And in other intra city contests this weekend the Sacramento Saints’ Metro League(Round 3), Denver Bulldogs’ Aussie Ball League (Round 4), and Philadelphia Hawks’ Metro Leagues (Round 2) all continue.
Next weekend is the Memorial Day weekend in the US and there will be very few games played at all.
