BSP AFLPOM Grand Final this Saturday

The 2011 Papua New Guinea AFL Port Moresby (AFLPOM) Grand Final is scheduled for this Saturday, October 15th, at the Amini Park in Port Moresby. Combatants on the day are the Lamana Dockers and the Hitron Bomana Cats.
The game will commence at 2pm.
Saturday October 1, AFL Grand Final day, also saw the AFLPNG semi finals contested. On the day, the Moore University Tigers (9-6-60) defeated the Remington Kokofas (7-4-46). In the main game, the Lamana Dockers won their way through to the Grand Final (5-4-34) with a win over the Hitron Bomana Cats (4-6-30).

The Hitron Bomana Cats (13-9-87) then advanced for a return bout after getting past the Moore Uni Tigers (6-7-43) last Saturday.

The Grand Final sees the clear top two teams from the regular season set to play off in what should be a highly spirited clash with little separating the sides, as evidenced by the 4 point margin in the semi’s.
The BSP AFL Premiership (naming rights sponsor being PNG’s leading bank BSP) end of season ladder.

(note that BSP also supports the Koboni club. In early July this year, BSP came on board with a K15,000 sponsorship package for the competition. The BSP CEO Ian Clyne stated at the time the importance of supporting senior competition for talent pathways to feed into, while recognising that ‘…junior AFL has gone from strength to strength in recent years’, but that the senior footy had been somewhat ‘disorganised’. The package with the Koboni club is worth a further K10,000.)
