With representative footy a recent hot topic in AFL circles - it's timely for the big Solomon Islands East vs West rep game this Saturday. To be held at the King George VI oval in Honiara.
The following is a press release from the SIAFL:
East versus West: AFL rep game this Saturday at King George VI school oval
The 2012 Solomon Islands AFL senior competition has reached the halfway mark, and to celebrate a representative game will be played this Saturday at 3pm at King George VI school oval.
The best players of the competition will line up as East versus West, with the East team comprised of Kukum and KGVI men, playing the West team combination of Rove and White River.
Freddie Una, who has been starring as the first-string ruckman for Palm Beach-Currumbin in the Gold Coast AFL competition, will be having a run to maintain his condition as he readies for a return to Queensland to fight for a finals berth with his adopted Gold Coast team.
The Central Coast-Kukum captain coach, Rex Sulu, will take up a familiar leadership role with the combined East team, and will be expected to express his trademark on-field leadership from his fortress at full back.
Other stars of the SIAFL senior comp will take the field, such as Ringa Mosese of White River who most likely will be deploying his silky smooth yet rock hard midfield running to slice up his opponents from the East.
The game starts at 3pm. King George VI school oval is about a 1km past the Ranadi roundabout, heading towards the airport. All are welcome to come and enjoy an afternoon of free-flowing and hard-running football. For more information call the SIAFL national development officer Job Vulita on 7444878, or Marcus on 7573355.
