AFL Samoa has benefitted greatly over the last year from the presence of AYAD AFL development officer Gabel Stathis. Local footy and school programs have been reinvigorated. The AFL Samoa Committee (which includes people on the ground in Samoa as well as support from Australia) is advertising for the person to follow on from Gabel when his 12 month appointment expires.
Samoan Opportunity
A Vacancy exists for an Australian football development officer in Samoa under the Australian government’s Australian Youth Ambassadors Program (AYAD).
The Successful Applicant will be based in Apia, Samoa, and will be hosted by the AFL Samoa committee.
The 12-month appointment starts from November 2012, with the job including assisting, training and educating Samoan and local expatriate volunteers and employees in a variety of school and village based programs and competitions.
Applications must be computer literate and have excellent communication skills. A strong background in training and/or sports administration and sports promotion, marketing and sponsorship experience is highly desirable.
