England Dragonslayers international and Huddersfield Rams gun Luke Booth will make history this weekend when he lines up alongside the best Australian Football talent in Europe to play for the European Islands team against the Continental Europe team in the JLT European All-Stars game.

The Huddersfield Rams have a history of international appearances and Luke Booth is no less than the 6th Dragonslayers player the small West Yorkshire club has produced. However, Booth went on to be selected for the 2012 Euro Cup’s Team of the Tournament for his efforts of the field, and in further recognition of his talent for the game, he was selected to play alongside 9 players from the Irish Warriors Euro Cup champion team and 5 of his Dragonslayers team mates in the European Islands team.

Booth and his team mates will face off against a Continental Europe team featuring players from Euro Cup runners up Denmark, Euro Bowl winners France, and other experienced players from established leagues in Italy, Sweden, Croatia and other countries.

The All-Stars game kicks off at 1pm and is being held as a curtain raiser for the AFL European Challenge, which will see two AFL teams, Port Adelaide and Western Bulldogs, come over from Australia to face off at Kia Oval on Saturday, 4th November at 3:30. Tickets are £20 and are available online at http://www.kiaoval.com

Meanwhile, back in Yorkshire, Booth’s team mates are already busy planning for season 2013 in the AFL Central and Northern England league. The team introduced no less than 19 new players to the season last year, and made it to the Premiership play-offs for the second season running. The Rams are also league leaders in junior development, taking the game into local schools and introducing the game into PE curriculums.

Pre-season training starts in January with special skills sessions offered to those new to the game. Anyone interested should join the Rams on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/groups/32913901307/ or follow @themightyrams on Twitter.
