Axios Systems sign on as Naming Rights Sponsor for Euro Cup

AFL Europe have announced that Axios Systems have signed on for 3 years as the naming rights sponsor of the Euro Cup, with the upcoming edition in Bordeaux now officially known as the 2013 Axios Euro Cup.

Axios Systems delivers on-premise and SaaS Service Desk and IT Service Management (ITSM) software to customers across the globe. They combine software, consulting and training to implement ITSM strategies tailored to meet the needs of their customers.

The AFL Europe encourage any company needing such services to get in touch with Axios via axiossystems.com and support a company that supports Australian Rules Football in Europe.

They would also like to publicly thank Andros Symeonides (Senior VP Business Development) and Ranald Haig who both recently played for Iceland in the 2012 Euro Cup and have been instrumental in securing this support for the development Australian Football in Europe.

The official logo for the 2013 Axios Euro Cup is shown at left, designed by European footy stalwart Kolja Koracak from Croatia and his company Locker Room 51 Sports Branding Studio. His work can be found at lockerroom51.com.

I love the logo - - although, it'd work a treat on an icey cool beer bottle too.....or am I just thinking that 'cos it's hot as in Melbourne presently......?

When most people think of Bordeaux they think of the wine region. It's worth noting that Bordeaux is a subsatntial city, an old city and a very beautiful city on the Atlantic coast. It doesn't seem to get the attention it deserves in tourism circles but it was a great "discovery" on my footy tours. It has electric trams that transport you right into the beautiful old city mall and has good accomodation close to the football oval..Did I mention the wine and the surf?

Yep! great Beer Label look about it, being from the backblocks of Aussie I actually thought it was a beer company until read the article.

Would be great if AFL Europe could secure a sponsor for all the International Friendlies planned in Europe this year as well as the European Championships in August.

Six International matches spread across England, Germany, Ireland, Denmark?/Croatia?/Italy or Austria is pretty good coverage for any potential sponsor.

The European Championships would have to rate just behind the IC and/or US Nationals as far as prestige goes for footy is concerned. Players, officials and supporters from as far and wide as (Iceland, Germany, Croatia, England, Scandinavia and Ireland at last Champs) would be of real value promotionally to many a potential sponsor.

As well as sponsorship there is the value of the tournament to the local economy. The USAFL did the figures on their nationals and it's a substantial amount and quite easy to compute - number of peple, length of stay, accomodation, transport and food. As the Euro Cup grows this will become increasingly important especially with modest sized European cities where it might be possible to leverage some assistance. This also ties in with the need to being an officially recognised sport by governments.

If the European Champs is played with eight teams as last time, most teams would have at least 25 players/support staff and a some supporters as well (amounts up to three or four hundred even now) staying for a week sure adds up with food etc. as you say Harley.

A medium sized firm with wider european ambitions would get promotion value galore from sponsoring the champs and the friendlies relatively cheaply compared to the big ticket sports/matches.

Just fancy the host league breaking even or even putting some money in the bank to help when they have to tour next year!!!!
