AFL Japan season kicks off

The AFL Japan 2016 season kicked off on Sunday 8th May with two matches played at the Akigase Park Rugby Field.

The first match was played between R246 Lions and Senshu Powers with the Powers taking the honours 19 point victors. 12.14 (86) - 10.7 (67).

The match was won in the last Quarter when the Powers kicked 7 goals to 2. Goal kickers for Powers were Shoki Mokudaka 5. Riku Tokutake, Yoshiharu Sasaki 2. Ito Junpei, Kyoto Nakagawa, Shota Horiguchi 1.

Michito Sasaki kicked 5 goals for the Lions, Tatsuya Nasu 2 and Hiroki Suzuki, Yuta Toshima, Naylor Yuifutoshi 1 each.

Game two saw Tokyo Bay Suns give a 101 point hiding to the Eastern Hawks, 21.19 (145) - 7.2 (44)

Goal Scorers for the Suns were Yosuke Kuno 5. Junji Tanaka, Flynn Peterson, Masaya Nakamura 3. Munehiko Imai, Hisayoshi Oura 2. Kazuki  Ohashi, Toshiki Matsuhashi, Kohei Kageyama 1.
Leading scorer for the Hawks was Kai Yoshihara with 4, Takashi Kariya kicked 2 and Takumi Sato 1.
