Japan University Warriors touring Melbourne

AFL Japan has announced that a team made up from University students will be touring Australia to play matches and train with a local club and attend two AFL matches.

The AFL Japan University Warriors arrive in Melbourne Friday 26th August where they will undertake a visit to AFL House.

On Saturday they will attend the Essendon v Carlton Clash at the MCG and then on Sunday 28th will play a match against Keysborough Thirds at Keysborough Reserve then rush to the MCG to watch the Hawthorn v Collingwood match.

 

On Wednesday the team will train with the Box Hill North Club at Elgar Park to prepare to take on Sandown FC Thirds on Thursday 1st September at Edinburgh Reserve. On Friday 2nd September the team will be heard in an interview with SBS Radio (Japanese Radio).

The team is planning to try to attend a VFL Finals match either on Saturday or Sunday of the weekend 3rd & 4th September. It is hoped that the team will spend a little time sight-seeing before flying home to Japan on Thursday 7th September.

Hideki Miyasaka, President of AFL Japan has indicated that it is hoped that some of the players on this tour may return to Australia next year as members of the Samurai team for the International Cup 2017.

The Japan Warriors is an National Squad with University based players only.
