PALM SUNDAY FOOTY AFL FIJI CHAMPIONSHIP - ROUND 2 REPORT (13 April 20):

MATCH 2: City Swans 6.2.38 defeated Raiwaqa Bulldogs 2.2.14
MATCH 3: City Swans 3.3.21 defeated Suva Lions 1.3.9
MATCH 4: Nausori Cats 6.4.40 defeated Raiwaqa Bulldogs 2.3.15
LADDER AFTER ROUND TWO:
1. City Swans - 3 wins - 17.11.113
2. Nausori Cats - 3 wins - 14.17.101
3. Suva Lions - 2 wins - 19.16.130
4. Raiwaqa Bulldogs - no wins - 11.7.73
PLAYER OF ROUND 2 - John Valetiri was best on ground and played a crucial ball-winning role for the Cats in all positions.
MARK OF THE DAY - Bulldog Maicu Raida was tireless all day in defense, but against the dominant City Swans in their opening match, he took an outstanding goal saver right on the line.
GOAL OF THE DAY - Nathan Wesley kicked several goals for the winning Cats, but none so eye-catching as being on the receiving end of an unbroken link out of the middle in the last match against the Bulldogs when he managed to toe through from a bouncing Filipe Valesu ball.
Last week the Lions set the pace, but were outplayed this week despite kicking the highest goal tally so far. Good to see the Swans rising to the top with the Cats on their heels. Input from our expats is providing superb assistance to all teams they are contributing to - Jack French for the Lions; Mark Beevers for the Cats, and young newcomer, Finn Murphy, for the Bulldogs. Thank you to all players for maintaining excellent team discipline. Thank you to Yabaki Gade and Jack Toebelman for umpiring duties. Thank you to goal umpires Lani and Siteri, and Richard and Apenisa.
