It's sad news for sure, but a big ask just 3 years since the last Cup for a smallish amateur league to manage a 2 week tour to the other side of the planet.

Hopefully this second International Cup will still be a success, with the rise in standard on show to inspire sponsors to come to the fore. A thriving international Aussie rules could long term be great for companies like Qantas or Telstra's web business.

The third Cup in 2008 coincides with the 150th anniversary of the game itself, and a big International Cup by that stage will be a sign of where the game may go in the next century and a half. Also by then a lot of Denmark's players will have played the game through their youth.
