All Black almost a Swan or Lion

This all relates to some of the history articles we're discussed before. The fact is that all the different football codes have changed a lot over the years.

It seemed pretty obvious (and embarrassing for Australia) when the Australian Rugby side lost the last World Cup to England that the reason was almost entirely because England had a good kicker whereas Australia did not. Not just shooting at goal but gaining advantage down the sideline. In a land where kicking is so integral to our home grown sport it seemed very strange that a supposedly professional Rugby national side would have no fluent kickers and guys happy just to scramble 15 metres for touch.

It was obvious then that the game of Rugby, which was already changing towards more running athletes, would slowly open up to kicking once again, as it probably did in its early years. No surprise then that former Australian Football players or coaches would help lead the way. Of course we're all very parochial, so the sports will rarely acknowledge that they were influenced by each other.
