International talent creeping into AFL psyche

Well - on the back of the definitiive move to 18 teams - do you reckon a whole bunch of players who might have missed being drafted or just recently let go might be attacking the game with a renewed vigour.

Such as young Michael West, injury plagued with the Bulldogs, the QLD forward who kicked 10 goals one day, only to do his knee before the game was over - perhaps can be a ready made player come 2011 or 2012 or when ever.

The story of Canadian Scott Fleming - may not be drafted yet - but, may be cherry ripe to move from Broadbeach to the Gold Coast in 3-4 years time.

The question - will the SANFL and WAFL be brimming with players - or, does this signal the rise and rise of the QAFL?

It's certainly a good time for PNG juniors entering the system, the half dozen up in the Cairns development squad for example - to position themselves for both short AND medium term ambitions.

This is the spark that the powder keg of Australian Football needs.
It may blow up in our faces. But - in 150 years - never has the broader picture offered so many possibilities. The next 10 years really will give a vision to the next 150 years.
