ARFLI encompasses the entire Ireland of Ireland (exactly the same as the Rugby Union team and the International Rules team) and make no distinction between the north and south when it comes to footy! There have always been players from Northern Ireland on the National Squad and Ireland's 2002 Captain Michael Johnston was from the North.

Johnny Boyle, as far as I know, is from Dundalk in Co. Louth which is in the Republic of Ireland. We wish Johnny the best of luck with the Bulldogs and look forward to seeing him on the pitch in Melbourne!!!

While we are talking no borders - would Ireland consider selecting players outside their own competition like Boyle, or Irishmen playing in US competition, or for that matter in countries that will not be in the IC like those in Dubai or Singapore for example?
