2009 French Australian Football Championship kicks off

I think of a championship as being like a one off tournament, like the Coupe de France last year which was an historic first event.

So this year's championship is really the inaugural French league.

Does that sound correct?

I raise it because when I first heard that this was the first French championship I thought "but what about the Coupe de France last year?" - see New Era for Australian Football in France
