It ill-behoves Clive Palmer to call into question the potential viability or otherwise of the GCFC, when the FAA find themselves in the position of possibly having to rescind the licences of the owners of their Adelaide and Perth (I believe it is) franchises and to run the organisations themselves if they can't find new backers. I've noted with interest that total attendances at A-League matches have fallen since the 22% rise in season 2 (20% of which was a rise in Melbourne Victory's attendances). Season 3's fall in attendances was mitigated only by the establishment of Wellington after Auckland was folded. But I'm digressing - I think the FAA will only be as strong whilst their cash cow The Soccerroos, continue to perform well, should they falter: Expect the A-League to go the way of the NSL, and domestic Rugby Union in Oz. Mind you if the AFL can't in a reasonable time frame reduce the number of clubs in Melbourne then they too risk, a sooner than later, financial collapse.
