I supect the number of people of Polynesian heritage in western Sydney would be much greater than on the Gold Coast in QLD, so I would guess that the new Sydney club will be looking to do a very similar thing. Whereas in QLD I think it gets some publicity and obviously they hope he becomes a good player and helps sway some elite kids to commit to Aussie Rules over Rugby League, in NSW I think a similar signing would be a significant drawcard to local Polynesian communities to have a serious look at the sport.

Hunt's "defection" has been a major story nation-wide and some respected Rugby League people are saying the gloves are off, the NRL should go to war. The NRL boss has pointed out the sky isn't falling in. Certainly there is no love lost with other Gold Coast teams - the Rugby League club has labelled it desperate because they can't sign an AFL star from another club (which ignores the fact they don't debut in the AFL until 2011) and points out that Rugby League has promoted locals (which ignores the fact that many of GC's signings are locals). Seems they have something to fear.
