Just wondering if these boys could play for their country in 2011 inter cup. I really believe the Irish should have a stronger team than what they bring over. If they can match it with the afl boys in the international rules games then they should be able to be a strong force at the inter cup. The young Irish players who want to come to OZ to play at the highest level should be encouraged to take part in something like the international cup.

I think they would be eligible since they presumably spent their teenage years in Ireland. Provided they register with ARFLI and possibly play a few games there.

Whether ARFLI would want them or not I'm not sure. The Brits weren't interested in Brad Moran (not that he necessarily offered or was asked - it never got that far as far as I know) who plays in the AFL having moved to Australia with his family in his teens, preferring to play guys who are involved in the local leagues in the UK.

So ARFLI might go the same way. But if these guys do go back home and do play a bit of ARFLI then yeah, they'd probably get a game I'd think. And yes, they could field a very strong side. As PNG, NZ and RSA continue to improve it may be the only way Ireland can stay a true contender.
