It doesn't get much more historic than that. There have been some great moments for international Aussie Rules over the last few years, but to have so many countries come together at one moment, including crossing the "older larger leagues" and "newer smaller leagues" divide in such a formal structure is unprecedented.

Congratulations to Gerard Murphy and Josh Vanderloo, to the AFL in general for finally committing a bit more strongly to Europe and backing this plan, and to all the Leagues for putting aside differences and taking the bold step to go forward together. The volunteers and officials have done so much in each League, but as a united body now, let's hope this accelerates overall development in Europe - I reckon it will definitely help.

Sure as heck can't hurt!!

Actually, I've often thought the problem with Europe was the fragmented way in which many might look at it. Where as the USofA has a population of mid 300 million, and can boast 50 or 60 clubs and 4 figure player numbers - - most Euro countries pale in comparison,

Seeing Europe now hopefully as a far more unified entity must be beneficial. Might be nice to see a continental Europe team take on a North American team somewhere down the line in a trans-Atlantic battle.

Touch wood on generating 3rd party commercial support.
