I gather that the Robina rectangular stadium (Titans/GCU) is unable to be extended to the 40,000+ required. Doesn't have the room or foundations or something like that.

re Carrara, there's been talk of a Brisbane C'wealth games bid (or even Olympic)......being part justification along with the lure of a venue able to host T20 cricket......that and the WC soccer unlocks Fed funds and helps justify an AFL venue on the Gold Coast without too much 'bias' claims about Victorians on Gold Coast City council.
