The Canterbury League brought up the idea of hosting a Champions League weekend in March next year, similar to the one in the article.

It wasn't a popular idea as it's the off season. The local rugby and soccer comps run Mar-Aug and because we'd have to travel and pay our own way, you'd only get 22 blokes who could afford the time/cost to go and not the best 22 in the side, if we got 22 in the first place.
