I don't know about everyone one else but I was a bit suprised when I heard that Germany wouldn't be attending IC11, what are everyone's thoughts on this?

No surprise at all. The AFLG's official line for a number of years has been that they aren't currently interested in sending a team as they believe the funds would be better spent in-country.

There are some players who are interested in theory, but they struggled to get a full squad to Denmark last year, only getting across the line due to recruiting some German citizens playing elsewhere around Europe.

They will, however, be playing a 16-a-side friendly against France this year, it'll be part of the French team's IC preparations and I think the first full-field international for France as well, excepting maybe the ANZAC matches.

Yeah there was some discussion with Germany a while back, so I assume they give it genuine thought each time, but ultimately stick with the decision to stay home. Hopefully by 2014 their numbers will have grown such that they have plenty of keen players knocking the door down and able to pay their way.
