Ireland recruiting Exiles in Oz for IC11

It makes sense from ARFLI's point of view, although I'm a little uncomfortable with guys playing that may never have played in Ireland, especially if they were selected ahead of players from the Irish league. Conceivably Ireland could field an entire quality team from players based outside of Ireland. But I suppose if it's split roughly 50-50 and of the "exiles" some are former ARFLI players anyway, then it's understandable.

What I think it does mean is that the Warriors will be a very formiddable team. In the three Cups they have never finished lower than 4th.

With the experience of 10 or 15 players playing regularly in Australian leagues that should lift them up another step. PNG should also be better, but we're yet to establish whether their best players will be available, South Africa should be better but they haven't quite kicked on as well as we might have hoped, and I'm unsure where NZ is at. Nauru were amazing at IC08, improving so fast, but a big part of that was the benefit of players spending a season in Australia - I'm not sure if that has been repeated since (we must follow that up).

So in my mind Ireland may be as good a chance as anyone to take home the Cup. Currently it's Ireland 1, New Zealand 1, PNG 1. Will one of them be the first to double up?

Do we know whether ARFLI will be approaching players like Aisake O'hAilpin, guys that were on AFL lists but are now playing at a lower level in Oz?
