My old man played footy in Vietnam, can't remember wether it was Vung Tau or Nui Dat? Know he has some old pictures of it somewhere, will have to see if I can dig them up one day.

My daughter visited Hellfire Pass whilst holidaying in Thailand in 2009 and witnessed an interview with a couple of Aussie survivors and when the realisation hit her (it was Nov 11th) she said the hair stood up on the back of her neck. Unfortunately she was unable to stay for the memorial service as bus wouldn't wait that long(her last day in the area). Very moving experience for her tho, listening to the old POW's.

I reckon she would recommend to anyone who can get there for ANZAC DAY to do so.

If you get a chance, read Roland Perry's "The Changi Brownlow" about Peter Chitty (and more broadly, the fall of Singapore, Changi, and Burma railway).
