My guess would be Samoa (if true). Local league is non existent or not very strong (happy to be corrected). Maybe Japan.for the same reason.

While it is a shame that this has happened, I think in the whole scheme of things it is not a major issue. Still 3 teams on debut (4 if you include Tonga) and teams that debtued in 2008 are back this year, proving that Australian Rules Footy is expanding across the globe.

It's a bit frustrating that we can't confirm which country it is, but hopefully we'll get the green light soon.

For the record though, as far as I know Japan's local league is still kicking along fine. Considerably better than Samoa's at any rate.

Yeah I think Japan's issue is that it is mostly student based and they have a high turnover, so the Samurai don't benefit from building up an experienced team, and the individual clubs find it difficult growing themselves or growing new clubs.

Note that we're not so much unable to confirm the withdrawal, but we're giving the country in question a fair chance to confirm and explain what has happened, and that incldues time for us to put the questions to them etc.
