Is it maybe more the issue of the winner of Div 2 (ie 13th overall) getting some cash, but not the teams finishing 4th-12th?

Also, I guess theoretically, a team might tank in the lightning round to get into Div 2, then smash the other 5 for the cash (note, I don't actually think that will happen).

Let's see how it turns out. An extra incentive for teams to pull out all the stops and put the best possible team on the park shouldn't be a bad thing. One thing it may do is mean the AFL have to be extremely strict on player eligibility.

I like the idea. There are some obvious issues but the amounts are not going to make or break programs so I don't think it will widen gaps between nations. I see it as a nice first step introducing some added rewards.

As for top of Div 2 getting rewarded and not the lower Div 1 sides, yeah it is a bit anomalous but I'm glad they did it. Again, it won't make a big long term difference but is a nice little reward to take away. If a team thinks that small amount is worth more than Div 1 status then so be it.
