Im quite upset and surprised about prize money being offered to the winning teams of the tournament... I believe it sends the wrong message out to developing countries who are trying to promote the game.. With so many countries pulling out shouldnt the money be better spent by getting these countries to event and offering financial assistance... the strength of the Aussie $ is killing everyone in Europe... The game overseas is a truely amateur sport played by people who the love of the game!!! Just my thoughts Cheers Mark Pitura GB Coach

Hi Mark. Good to hear from one of the countries involved. Would love to see more of your guys getting on here leading up to the Cup.

I guess my take on this is that a few thousand extra in development grants probably wouldn't make much difference to any one country in terms of whether they could or could not make it to Australia for IC11. The total is $14750. I suppose if that was all given to one nation then it might make the difference. But then who to give it to?

It's certainly complicated because obviously some nations already get more support than others. I kind of feel like it's wrong to have these prizes in some ways, but overall my gut feel is that it adds some polish or gloss to the event which I like in terms of making it steadily bigger and better.
