On the contrary, I have grown up in a very 'catholic' sporting culture attending a college boasting an honour list of Aust Schools reps second only to St Joeys in Sydney.

Needless to say, I have a comprehensive knowledge of Union and its sub culture, as well as supporting the Brumbies for a decade or more, playing the code at school a bit as well.

I am fully aware of the 'war dances' that distinguish the nations of Polynesia which is why I posed the question in the first place.

The Haka is a Maori tradition which many believe has degenerated into a commercial tool to promote all things NZ, rather than remaining sacrosanct culturally. I am aware that countries i.e. Samoa and Tonga have there equivalents which I have been exposed to at International Union fixtures amongst others, over the years.

It seems a little tacky to be engineering some sort of hybrid concoction that sets out to represent what is essentially a side of varying and opposing cultures as well as it being predominately a PNG side at this point in time. PNG as with Fiji, is Malaynesian not Polynesian, the latter sharing this particular style of dance.

Is this simply another sign that any control or indeed ownership of Australian Footies inroads into the Oceania region will be dominated and appropriated entirely by NZ at all levels? We already know full well, that if there is to be any AFL expansion at the elite commercial tier, it will be to NZ, despite PNG currently presenting by far as the best grass roots catchment throughout Oceania.

I suggest this is the case and especially when you consider the movers and shakers within the AFL echelons, today talk up NZ even at the expedient disregard of the nations capital, amongst other far more worthy and compelling domestic options.

Ha ha great stuff Rory, once again you've managed to weave your dislike for New Zealand into a thread. Hard to take your arguments seriously when at the end of the day they all seem to just be a cover for anti-NZ rhetoric. A Kiwi must have done something really nasty to you once upon a time.

Look on the bright side, if NZ ever do get an AFL side you'll have a team to follow passionately, always desperate to see them lose.
